Ch 8- Deal,ch 9-mistake,ch 10-Distance

The morning light slipped quietly through the curtains, soft and golden, falling over the tangled sheets.

Richa lay still, her head resting against Aryaman’s bare chest, listening to the steady rhythm of his heartbeat. For a moment, she forgot everything—the force, the anger, the chaos that had brought her here.

His arm was lazily wrapped around her, fingers tracing absent patterns on her shoulder, as if he had all the time in the world.

But she didn’t.

Her fingers tightened slightly against his skin.

“Aryaman…” her voice was low, hesitant.

“Hm?” he murmured, not opening his eyes.

She lifted her head just enough to look at him. “Papa’s deals…”

That made him open his eyes.

There was no irritation. No surprise. Just quiet understanding—as if he had been waiting for this.

“They’re gone because of me,” she continued, her voice trembling despite herself. “You said you could destroy everything… you did.” She swallowed. “Now bring it back.”

Silence stretched between them.

Then, without a word, Aryaman reached for his phone on the bedside table.

Richa watched him, confused.

He dialed a number, his expression turning cold, commanding in an instant.

“Reverse everything,” he said flatly. “All the cancelled contracts—restore them. Same terms. No delay.”

A pause.

“And make sure no one even thinks of touching his business again.”

He cut the call.

Richa blinked, stunned. “That’s it?”

He turned his head slightly, looking at her like it was the most obvious thing in the world. “That’s it.”

“You didn’t even—” she stopped, searching for words. “You didn’t argue… or question…”

A faint smirk touched his lips. “You asked.”

As if that alone was enough.

Her chest tightened.

“You’re dangerous,” she whispered.

“I told you that already.”

She pushed herself up slightly, the sheet slipping but he immediately pulled it back over her, his grip firm but gentle.

“Careful,” he said, his voice dropping. “No one gets to see you like this.”

Her breath hitched at the sudden possessiveness.

“Even now?” she asked, a hint of defiance in her tone. “After everything… you still act like you own me?”

His eyes darkened, but his touch remained soft as he brushed a strand of hair away from her face.

“Not own,” he said quietly. “Protect.”

The word lingered.

Richa looked away first.

There was a long pause before she spoke again, her voice steadier this time.

“I’ll marry you.”

Aryaman didn’t react immediately.

“I’ll do it,” she continued, forcing herself to hold his gaze now. “I’ll stay. I’ll play your role. I’ll be what your world needs me to be.”

Something shifted in his expression—but he stayed silent.

“But…” her voice faltered just a little, “I can never love you.”

There it was.

The truth. Raw and sharp.

For a second, the air felt heavier.

Richa expected anger.

Maybe even that dangerous edge he carried so easily.

But Aryaman just… smiled.

He pulled her back down against his chest, holding her closer this time.

“We’ll see,” he murmured against her hair.

She stiffened slightly. “I mean it.”

“I know.”

“I’m serious, Aryaman.”

His fingers tilted her chin up, forcing her to look at him.

His eyes held something steady. Certain.

“You think what you feel right now is permanent,” he said calmly. “It’s not.”

Her brows furrowed. “You’re that sure of yourself?”

“I’m that sure of you.”

Her heart skipped—annoyingly, confusingly.

“You don’t even know me.”

A soft chuckle escaped him. “I know enough.”

“And what is that?”

“That you wouldn’t be here if you didn’t feel something.”

She froze.

“That’s not—” she started, but the words got stuck.

His thumb brushed lightly over her lower lip, not teasing this time… just slow, deliberate.

“You can deny it,” he said softly. “Fight it. Hate me for it.”

His gaze dropped briefly to her lips, then back to her eyes.

“But one day…” his voice lowered, almost a promise, “you’ll look at me the same way I look at you.”

Her breath came uneven.

“And how is that?” she whispered.

“Like there’s no escaping it.”

Silence fell again.

But this time, it wasn’t heavy.

It was… something else.

Richa rested her head back on his chest, closing her eyes. She told herself it was just an arrangement.

A deal.A compromise.

But his arms around her felt too steady.Him placing kiss on her lips desperately.

Too certain.

And for the first time…

That certainty scared her more than his power ever had.

Ch 9- MISTAKE

Richa stood outside her house for a moment, her hand resting lightly against the gate.

Everything looked unchanged.

But she didn’t feel the same.

When she stepped inside, her father’s voice reached her almost immediately—lighter, relieved, alive again. He was on a call, talking about deals being restored, about things falling back into place as if nothing had ever gone wrong.

Richa’s chest tightened.

Her father noticed her and smiled, about to speak, but something in her expression stopped him. She didn’t stay long enough to listen anyway. Quietly, she walked past him and went to her room.

The door shut, and the silence wrapped around her.She leaned back against it, closing her eyes.

Memories of the previous night came back in fragments—too vivid to ignore, too complicated to accept. It wasn’t just about what had happened between them. It was about what it meant now.

Nothing felt like hers anymore.

Not her decisions.

Not her space.

Not even her future.

Everything felt…Controlled.

Her phone buzzed later that evening.

A message from him.

*“Be there in twenty minutes.”*

Richa stared at the screen for a long moment, something inside her hardening. And yet, despite everything, she found herself going.

The place was quiet, secluded—exactly the kind of place Aryaman preferred.

He stood near the window when she entered, his posture relaxed, his presence steady as ever. It was as if the world around him always remained under control.

Richa didn’t wait.

“You planned all of this, didn’t you?” she said, her voice steady but edged with anger.

Aryaman turned toward her, his expression unreadable.

She stepped closer, her emotions rising to the surface. “You broke everything first… and then fixed it. Just so we would have no choice.”

For a second, silence lingered between them.

Then he spoke, calm as ever. “Your family is safe. That’s what matters.”

The simplicity of his words made something in her snap.

“Don’t call this safety,” she said, her voice tightening. “This is control.”

He didn’t deny it.

Didn’t argue.

He simply took a step closer, closing the distance just enough to make her aware of him again—his presence, his quiet intensity.

“It’s protection,” he said softly.

Richa held her ground this time, even though her heartbeat had already started to betray her.

“No,” she shook her head. “It’s ownership.”

Something shifted in his gaze, but his expression remained composed.

The air between them grew heavier.

Richa forced herself to continue, to draw the line she knew she needed. “What happened last night… it doesn’t change anything.”

His eyes stayed on her, steady, almost searching.

“It was a mistake,” she added, her voice lower now, but firm.

For a brief second, his jaw tightened.

But the reaction faded just as quickly.

Instead of anger, there was something else—something calmer, more certain.

“Not for me,” he said quietly.

The words settled between them, heavier than they should have been.

Richa felt her breath catch, but she refused to let it show.

So she said the one thing she thought would create distance.

"I can agree to marry you,” she said, her voice steadier now, “but I won’t love you.”

Silence followed.

Aryaman didn’t react immediately. He didn’t look offended, didn’t look surprised.

If anything, he looked… sure.

After a moment, he stepped back, putting a small distance between them.

“Love isn’t something you decide like that,” he said, his tone calm, almost thoughtful.

Richa frowned slightly, unsettled by how unaffected he seemed.

He held her gaze, his voice lowering just enough to make the words feel personal.

“It becomes a habit.”

That was it.

And somehow, that certainty shook her more than anything else he had done.

Richa stood there, unable to respond immediately.

Her emotions were tangled—anger still there, resistance still strong… but something else had started to exist alongside them.

Her eyes dropped unconsciously to her wrist.

The bangles.

She hadn’t even realized she was still wearing them.

For a moment, she just stared at them, her fingers slowly brushing against the cool surface.

“They shouldn’t be here…” she murmured under her breath.

But her hand didn’t move to take them off.

And that scared her more than anything else.

......

Ch 10-DISTANCE

The silence had started to feel heavier than his presence ever did.

Three days.

Three days of nothing—no messages, no sudden appearances, no quiet control over her life.

Richa had told herself she wanted this.

And yet… when she finally stood in front of him again, something inside her didn’t feel relieved.

Aryaman stood near the window, just like always—calm, composed, as if nothing had shifted.

As if *she* hadn’t.

Richa walked in, stopping a few steps away, her eyes fixed on him.

“You disappeared.”Her voice was steady, but it carried something beneath it now—something she hadn’t intended to reveal.

Aryaman turned toward her slowly.

“I was busy.”

Something about that irritated her more than his control ever had.

“That’s it?” she pressed, taking a step closer. “You just… vanish like that?”

His gaze held hers, steady and sharp.

“You wanted space.”The words landed quietly.

But they hit.

Richa inhaled, her jaw tightening. “I didn’t say disappear.”

For a moment, neither of them moved.

Then Aryaman stepped forward.

“I stepped back,” he said, his voice lower now. “There’s a difference.”

The distance between them disappeared.

Richa felt it instantly—his presence, the familiarity of it, the way her heartbeat lost rhythm without her permission.

She should’ve stepped back.

But she didn’t.

“I don’t care,” she said, though the words came softer than intended.

Aryaman watched her for a second… like he was waiting for something.

Then his hand came up, gripping her wrist—not painfully, but firm enough to stop her from looking away.

“Don’t lie,” he said quietly.

Her breath caught.

The sudden closeness, the way his fingers tightened slightly around her wrist—it wasn’t gentle.

It wasn’t meant to be.

Richa tried to pull back instinctively. “Leave my hand.”

He didn’t.

Instead, he pulled her a step closer.

Not enough to hurt.

“You came here,” he said, his voice dropping further, almost a murmur against the tension between them. “That means something.”

Her heartbeat was loud now—too loud.

“I came to talk,” she replied, but even she could hear the lack of conviction.

Aryaman’s eyes flickered over her face, slow, deliberate… stopping at her lips for just a second too long.

And before she could react—

He pulled her closer.

The movement was sudden. Not enough to hurt, but enough to take control.

His hand shifted from her wrist to her jaw, holding it firmly as his lips crashed against hers.

It wasn’t soft. It was claiming.

Richa froze for a second, her hands instinctively pushing against his chest.

But he didn’t move back immediately.

The kiss deepened for a brief moment—intense, almost punishing, like he was breaking the silence she had forced between them.

Then just as suddenly—

He pulled away.

Her breath was uneven, her fingers still pressed against him, her eyes wide with shock… and something else she didn’t want to name.

“Don’t call it nothing,” he said, his voice low, controlled but edged now. “Because it wasn’t.”

Richa swallowed, trying to steady herself.

“That doesn’t change anything,” she said, but her voice lacked its earlier strength.

Aryaman studied her for a second.

Then his grip softened… just slightly.

But he didn’t let go completely.

“It doesn’t have to,” he replied. His thumb brushed lightly against her wrist where he was still holding her—a contrast to the roughness from seconds ago.

That contrast confused her more than the kiss itself.

“I still meant what I said,” she added, forcing herself to meet his eyes. “I won’t love you.”

This time, Aryaman didn’t move closer.

Didn’t react the way she expected.Instead, he let go of her completely.

The sudden absence of his touch felt… noticeable.

“I know,” he said simply.

Richa frowned slightly, thrown off.

“That’s it?” she asked, almost frustrated now. “You’re just going to accept that?”

Aryaman’s gaze didn’t waver.

“I don’t need to change your mind right now.”

His tone was calm.

Too calm.

He stepped back, putting space between them—real distance this time.

But his presence didn’t lessen.

“If you felt nothing,” he added quietly, “you wouldn’t be here.”

The words settled deep.

Richa didn’t respond.

Because she didn’t have an answer.

Silence filled the space again.

But it wasn’t the same silence as before.

This one… lingered.

Her fingers moved unconsciously to her wrist again.

The bangles.

Aryaman’s gaze dropped to them for a brief second.

A faint, almost invisible smirk touched his lips.

He didn’t say anything.

Richa exhaled slowly, stepping back this time.

“I should go.”

He didn’t stop her.

Didn’t reach for her again.Just watched.

And that, somehow, felt more intense than if he had.

As she walked away, her heart refused to calm down.

Her lips still burned faintly.

And her thoughts… refused to settle.

Because now—

It wasn’t just his control that affected her.

It was his absence.

And the way he could switch between the two… so effortlessly.
